A few thoughts (not about Bluesky specifically, because I don't have an account there)...

It's news because a billionaire said it. Hundreds or thousands of other people have also said it, and know more about it, but that's not news.

He does make an interesting point, though. If people have the ability to curate their feed, why are they getting into arguments instead? I guess humans (or some humans) need more than just good tools. They need the desire to not get into a fight.

Checking https://mastodon.social/explore ("These posts from across the fediverse are gaining traction today") for diversity of thought. Out of the first 83 posts:

43 are left-wing political.
19 are tech topics.
11 are personal or humor.
7 are animal/nature photos.
3 misc topics.
Zero centrist, conservative, or right-wing political posts.

You have to consider why they are there. They aren't there because they wanted a decentralized platform. They are there because they were fleeing "Elon Musk's free speech platform" and now "Elon Musk, the Nazi". It should be no surprise that they lean way left.
