Just curious. Is it possible to discuss politics without the name calling and insults, or is that required?

I don't mind random people commenting. I enjoy a good debate. I just lose respect for them (a little bit) if they resort to name calling and insults. But I still treat them with respect. I would rather take the high ground than stoop to their level.
And thanks for the welcome!

I think that happens in a civilized society… I can’t find proof that one exists.

It's like a power-tripping cop. They think that being "right" justifies being a jerk.

It is definitely possible. The problem is that the loudest people are usually the most aggressive, so that is all you hear. But there are a lot of people who are willing to have a normal conversation. The tricky part is finding such people.

I know it is possible. Just not with some people.
